Born in Italy in 1970, Antonella Bari, came to photography in 1990. Living in Crispiano (Taranto), the richness of colour is all around her. Innately drawn towards the sensuality it projects, she immediately focused upon the flowers and vegetables of her region. It remains a favourite subject. Not that she has ever wanted to record its reality. On the contrary, she's far more interested in creating an abstract, subjective view.

The fantastic colours she attains suggest a modernistic, even digital approach. However, whilst her images steer clear of traditional perspectives, they are nevertheless surprisingly achieved through relatively traditional means. Like, for example, their always being shot in natural light.
